MILKANA® Somatic Scan is a fast, reliable, and cost-effective solution for somatic cell count analysis in raw milk, supporting quality control processes from farm to laboratory.
The analysis is based on viscosity measurement technology. During testing, a specially developed anionic surfactant reagent (Milkoprim Agent) is added to the milk sample. The reagent dissolves the plasma membrane and nuclear envelope of somatic cells, forming a gel structure that increases the viscosity of the milk. The device then accurately determines the somatic cell count based on this viscosity change.
MILKANA® Somatic Scan delivers the results in just 1 minute (including sample prepaation), helping dairy producers monitor milk quality quickly and efficiently.
